My life has been centered on fitness. Ever since the age of 10, I have been highly active in a variety of disciplines including, but not limited to, athletics, throwball, race track horse riding, squash, hockey, and football. Over the past 10 years, I have suffered a number of injuries due to 2 traffic road accidents. These injuries have attributed to various imbalances that my body faces every single day.
I have helped curb the extent to which these imbalances limit my lifestyle on my own, working as a physical instructor at various fitness centres for three years and working with a private rehabilitation specialist for one. We worked together on such cases as diabetes, high blood pressure, bone/muscle disorders, depression, ligament tears, perimenopause and muscular dystrophy. During my stint with the rehab specialist, I worked doubly hard to get better control over myself and dedicated my time to studying and learning the human body. This would help myself and in turn the clients that I train.
When I train my clients, I train them with the same compassion, care and concern with which I would train myself.
I believe in one simple motto – You have one life, live it with no regrets. Do everything in moderation and at the same time, take time out to take care of your body and mind.
Pilates and Muscle Rehabilitation Therapist. I focus on strength training using body weight, aerobics and interval training which incorporates the promotion of weight loss, all adapted to each individual’s needs.
I have met and trained, and continue to train, people suffering from various problems like cervical spondylosis, muscle dystrophy, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, perimenopause, joint problems, knee problems, back problems, ankle injuries, shin splints, dislocated shoulders, shoulder impingements, strains, sprains and post-medical-rehabilitation ligament injuries.
The general benefits of physical training include:
I focus on healthy muscles to prevent injury and to also improve physical ability in order to lead a healthy life. My workout program is very technical and efficient. I work one to one and also with groups of up to six people. Under my instructions, and if you are regular with your classes, it’s very effective, although you will feel the benefits after just one class! Before we start a program I will do an assessment to analyse your posture, strengths and weaknesses and decide how we can work together to achieve your goals.
In the first few classes, and depending on your fitness level, I will focus on strengthening your muscles using bodyweight and props. While at the same time giving you a good calorie-burning workout. Then we will focus more on either endurance, strength or flexibility. I do a combination of all three depending on what your body needs based on the following types of training:
